Website Creator/Editor
USS Johnston/Hoel Website

Bill Mercer passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 7, 2004 after complications of Congestive Heart Failure. He dedicated many hours, and years of service to the USS Johnston/Hoel Association. He previously served as past President of the USS Johnston/Hoel Association, and the Tin Can Sailors of Texas. He and his wife Shirley of 56 years enjoyed coordinating annual Reunions for the USS Johnston/Hoel Survivors.

In his 77 years on earth, Bill had a full and rewarding life. He was honored to serve in the USS Navy, and was proud to be a member of the Johnston-Hoel Association.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, children, Markey & Jack Tracht,
Debbie & Steve Ragsdill, and Kay & Noe Martinez, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many wonderful friends.

He will be greatly missed by all.

Debbie [Mercer} Ragsdill has graciously accepted the Webmaster position of our website, in honor of her father and the USS Johnston-Hoel Association
